IPL/BBL

IPL BBL

Intense Pulse Light (also known as Broad Band Light), treatments reduce sun damage, hyperpigmentation and photoaging, while stimulating collagen production and evening the skin tone.

Unlike generic IPL, we use the Sciton BBL, often referred to as the Rolls Royce of photo-rejuvenation. Sciton is the only non-ablative device that has been pathologically shown to exhibit a slowdown and even reversal in skin aging!

BBL’s broadband range of wavelengths allow targeted treatments for many skin conditions without the need for additional handpieces. It’s flexible Finesse Adapters enable treatment of hard to reach areas. Because the device is precisely engineered, it delivers energy uniformly, yielding consistent and safe treatment outcomes for the patient.

FAQ

How does BBL work?

The light from the laser bypasses the top layer of the skin and reaches into the dermis where melanin is produced that makes the pigmented spots that we see on our face and/or body. The light breaks up the pigment, and that pigment rises to the surface in the form of a “coffee-ground” or “pepper-like” effect. These tiny flakes will slough off or exfoliate off in approximately 7-10 days with natural skin cell exfoliation. What is left behind is a clearer, brighter, more even-toned complexion! Because we are working in the dermal layer, BBL also stimulates collagen, helps with overall skin clarity, gives the skin an amazing glow and aids in skin health. This treatment easily takes years off of the skin when clearing away sun damage.

Who is a candidate for  BBL treatment?

Anyone who is on the fairer side, is an ideal candidate for BBL. This is not a treatment for melasma.

When will I see results?

You will see significant improvement after your  first treatment. However,  just like going to the gym one time doesn’t make you lose 20 pounds,  doing only one BBL treatment will not get rid of all of your sun damage. An initial series will need to be done to get you to your optimal results.

How many treatments will I need?

Obtaining optimal results for BBL requires 3-4 initial treatments, spaced three weeks apart. After this, committing to one treatment every 3 months leads to amazing skin health, clarity and collagen stimulation, with skin that looks even better with each passing year.

How do I prepare for a BBL Treatment?

  • Please be off any antibiotics for two full weeks before treatment, as antibiotics can be photosensitizing

  • Let your provider know prior to treatment if you are on accutane

  • Do not have a tan ( sun or self-tanner)

  • Please come with all make-up, creams and fragrances removed from the skin prior to treatment

What is the recovery time?

Immediately after treatment you will feel a mild sunburn and be a little red for about 45 minutes. We advise that you do not do anything for the remainder of the day that can induce heat in the skin. Please workout before you come for your treatment. No saunas and lukewarm water only for showering and washing your face. Make-up can be worn immediately after the treatment to cover any of the “coffee-grounds.” As with any laser treatment, there can sometimes be swelling, as that is a direct sign of collagen stimulation. We recommend you ice, sleep upright the first night and take an antihistamine if you do feel any swelling. Swelling  will subside on its own and is a completely normal reaction.

Vbeam Perfecta

 VBeam

Vbeam (also known as Pulse Dye Laser) Perfecta is widely known as the gold standard technology for the treatment of vascular lesions. The Perfecta offers a dramatic improvement in a wide array of generalized redness, telangiectasia (broken blood vessels), rosacea, poikiloderma, post-procedural bruising, post-inflammatory erythema  and cherry angiomas. The laser heats problems areas evenly in micro-bursts, which results in firmer skin texture and collagen stimulation.

The Vbeam Perfecta is a pulsed-dye laser, meaning it selectively targets hemoglobin (or blood vessels) deep within the skin, ultimately leading to the reabsorption of the damaged skin vessels by the body. The destruction of these blood vessels results in a reduction of the appearance of the targeted skin blemish. The upper layer of the skin is protected during the treatment with a dynamic cooling device which sprays a cool mist onto the skin before each laser pulse, making the treatment more comfortable for the patient.

Red +RX

This combination therapy includes a a treatment of VBeam Perfecta to target any diffused redness in the skin, broken capillaries and post-inflammatory erythema caused by leftover acne marks, followed by our Renewal peel to treat fine lines, pores, overall skin tone. This is a great option for those who want to treat redness and are concerned about antiaging.
