Chemical Peels

At Racquel Aesthetics, we are the Peel Mixologists. An array of skin care concerns such as sun damage, acne, fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration can be addressed with our Custom Chemical Peels.

The strength of our peels can be tailored for each client based on their desired results and downtime. The speciality acids used in our peels will exfoliate the skin by lifting away dead skin cells and revealing a bright and radiant complexion, allowing for maximum penetration and absorption of skincare.

FAQ

HOW DO CHEMICAL PEELS WORK?

Chemical peels work by changing the pH level of the skin. When we change the pH level, we are able to loosen the cells that form the “glue” between dead skin and healthy skin. When that bond is chemically loosened, exfoliation occurs as dead skin is removed to reveal healthy skin underneath. This process promotes the growth of new, healthy skin cells.

WHAT CAN CHEMICAL PEELS TREAT?

Chemical peels are an effective treatment for many skin conditions including sun damage, texture, acne, melasma and superficial fine lines and wrinkles. They cannot treat deep facial lines or wrinkles or tighten loose and sagging skin. They also cannot remove deep scars.

HOW LONG WILL THE TREATMENT TAKE?

Treatment times depend on the type and depth of peel. This will be discussed with your provider during your consultation. You should plan on approximately 30 minutes for application and to go over post-care instructions with your provider.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

For optimal results, an initial series of 3-4 peels spaced 4 weeks apart is advised. Maintenance treatments are then recommended on a quarterly basis.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

Depending on the strength and type of peel, clients will see results after 5-7 days or until all peeling is complete and skin has completely epithelialized.

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME?

Recovery times will vary based on the type and strength of the peel. Peeling usually lasts 3-5 days, depending on the peel treatment. Normal activity may be resumed after the peel, however heavy sweating and sun exposure should be avoided for 2-3 days. Use of gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen is important, as it will enhance the healing process and results.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR A CHEMICAL PEEL?

  • Avoid exfoliation treatments at least 24 hours prior to your treatment.
  • If you are taking Accutane or using Retinol based products you should refrain from use for 48 hours and/or consult with your physician before receiving a treatment.
  • Limit your sun exposure and avoid tanning beds
  • Do not wax or use hair removal treatments
  • Avoid skin brightening products
  • Be aware of any allergies you may have
